M20 is the correct size for the WRX (EJ20). I bought one last week. Pep Boys sells them in a multi-pack for ~$3.00.

Do you have the gauge pack Curtis? M20 seems kinda big....it's only a 17mm head, hence a smaller thread size (M15? I'm not sure). I get the factory part.

    Chris,

No gauge pack. I measured the threads with calipers, then bought both an 18 & 20mm plug w/ gasket. 20 mm is the correct size despite the wrench size. I presume the 17mm head is to help prevent anyone from over-tightening/stripping the threads.

I got this one from Pep Boys for $1.99. I didn't like the fiber crush washer; never felt like it got it tight. Replaced with a metal crush washer.

I bought a box of 18 mm fiber washers from Kragen because the guy told me it would work. They were too small and I had to file them to make them fit. I have a small leak; I assumed it was from the filing, but now I think it's the fiber crush washer.
    Thanks,

    Oil Drain Plug

Hey guys, I was wondering where I could buy a drain plug for a stock wrx. My plug is looking pretty rounded and I just wanted to make sure that I can get it off the next time I need to change my oil, which is about 500 miles. I ran a search but couldnt find anything, so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Your subaru dealer would be the best bet. If they don't have it, they'll order it and have it for you within a week. So call tomorrow!

Autozone has the plug and the washer as a set. You'll need the 20 mm size.
    Thanks,

I've heard good things about the fumoto, but I haven't wanted to try my own because I don't want to bash it rallyxing or driving on dirt and break it.

    Stock plug = subie dealer.
