    A Couple Timing belt Questions

I was told that Subarus use chains instead of timing belts but then I just heard that only the 6 cylinders use chains.

I have an 02 wrx and don't know if it has a timing belt or chain and wouldn't know what to look for. What do 2002 WRXs use?

Also, if I have a timing belt, at what mileage is it recommended to change it? My car has 86,000.

    Thank you

    Thank you.

Also, does the 02 wrx have the feature where your engine cuts out (or something to that effect) if the timing belt breaks so that your engine won't be destroyed?

105 is what the maximum is..most including me would recomend at 80k and if your belt breaks prepare to do a valve job and possiblly more...id have the bely replaced now to save yourself headaches/costly repairs..also its not a simple timing belt id suggest having a dealer do it...
