Do you have a 2.5L? If so I am assuming you are referring to the TGV?

Tumble Generator Valves above the fuel injectors remain closed during engine warm-up to create a tumble effect, which improves atomization of intake air entering the cylinders. This action creates a leaner air/fuel mixture to reduce emissions.

If it is stuck open, no problem. If it is stuck closed - it's choking your engine a little or a lot. I had mine go - and ended up doing the TGV delete. Mine was done by Precision Tuning, basically unscrew the flaps from the spindle, then take out the spindle and weld the spindle holes closed, then clean it up and put it back. I've had no issues since. I purchased the StreetTuner software to edit the map for my car with the Cobb AP. Turned off the checks for the TGV's.

I have a 2002 WRX, so it's a 2.0. The dearship has just been calling it the Tumble Sensor.

Any chance this could cause a tick sound?
