    TPS whinin' and a buzzing

I wrapped up putting in my IC Sprayer and was testing the switch today - I had the ignition set to ON and went to the front of the engine and could hear the throttle position sensor whining. I dont recall ever hearing a TPS making noise while the ignition switch is on. No CEL's YET. I unhooked the harness and plugged it back in and same noise. Reset the ECU - same deal.

Can anyone verify if their TPS does or does not make noise with the ignition on? (engine NOT on).

Hope so - gotta fiind out how a TPS on an '06 would take a crap so soon....

Are you sure, it's not the fuel pump. That's what buzzes for a few seconds on my '02 when I turn on the ignition.

    Yup

I'm sure. I could easily pin point the source of the sound. I disconnected the power source to the TPS and the sound went away. Plugged it back in and voila - it was back.

Just checked my friends 07 sti - has the same sound but much fainter. Mine has some crackling in it. So, maybe something needs dried out in some heat and I might have to take th I/C off and check the throttle body for oil build up... so, some sounds is normal - i think mine is a bit much though.
