    An Oil Question

I have an '02 WRX with 105k miles on it. The previous owner just used dino oil - I don't know what brand or anything. I bought the car with 99k miles on it. Since then, I put 3k miles on whatever dino juice the previous owner put in it before the sale, then I put 3k miles on 5w30 Mobil 1 Clean 7500 synthetic blend.

I want to make the switch to Mobil 1 full synthetic because I want the car well protected - it is my daily driver and I also autox in it. My question is that is my mileage too high to switch to the full synthetic? I know switching to synthetics at high mileage is sometimes a bad idea because leaks and consumption become more pronounced, but in the last two oil change intervals I have had no noticeable consumption on either dino or synthetic blend oil. Do you think it is safe to switch, and is the added protection worth the risk/cost?

make the switch - if you're nervous just check the oil level on the daily for the first few weeks, then weekly until you get tired of checking it.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm probably going to make the switch in the next few days when I get the chance. I just wanted to check here to see if anyone had any horror stories to try to scare me off before I do.

I decided to stick with the synthetic blend for one more oil change because I still had a quart and a half left in my garage. At my next change I'll probably make the switch. My main concern is developing a leak or getting blow by, so I'll definitely look into BG MOA - thanks for the link!
