Unhappy Remote Alarm Problem - Intermittent - No Thanks to Subaru!

    Hi

Have 05 WRX Sportwagon - yeah, and it's an Auto!

Supposedly has an enhanced security system - which seems to mean it has an alarm - although as I found on the web it can be bypassed if you have the key - waste of time eh?

Anyway, intermittently the remotes don't do anything - maybe once every three or four weeks. When it happens neither remote works - won't lock, unlock, panic - nothing. Only way around it is to use the key and the super secret (ha, ha) method of bypassing the alarm to drive the car.

Of course the dealer can't reproduce the problem - maybe if I leave the car with them for a month ?? - and Subaru are imitating mammaries on a bovine by refusing to replace parts to diagnose fix. Yep, thanks for nothing!

So does anyone have any ideas - even if I knew where the receiver is it would be a start......

    Thanks in advance.

    IanS

You can't bypass the alarm with the key......Using the key in mine sets off the alarm, and won't allow me to start it w/o hitting the unlock button......But a smart theif can put the key in the car and push start it because the factory alarm only has a starter interrupt.....That's the bypass......
