Check Engine P0420..help!!!!

Everything on my car is stock, the obd-II said it has something to do with my cat. maybe it is bad? maybe that is why i am getting an oil smell or leak somewhere.. how do i fix this?

Did you buy the car used? Was it modified/is it currently modified?

Check this O2 sensor in the downpipe. You might need a new sensor.

Everything on the car is stock.. you think I need a new sensor? its a used car in great condition..42K miles on it. I went to the subie dealership and it wasn't covered under warranty..

Yes, OR, the last owned put in a catless downpipe and so you are throwing a code now.

take your car to the dealership.

Well if it is 100% stock take it to the dealership to get the sensor replaced.

is it under the 5 year powertrain warranty?

Well you have to find out if its the sensor that needs to be replaced. It is possible that your Downpipe Catalytic Converter is 4 years old and may need to be replaced.

Just go to the dealer.

i went to the dealer, its not covered under the warranty? it cost money to get it checked!

Well yea a diagnostic fee. Your 2003 might be close to not having a warranty for much longer.

If your cabin smells (sulfur smell?) and you are throwing a DP-02 sensor code then id guess you need a new cat.

But im not a mechanic so take it to the dealer to get fixed or your local Subaru tech.

I lift uped the car today, I saw engine leak near by the axles..I think the oil seal is broken or gaskets..either that or transaxle.. anyways.. its covered under the subaru warranty book...its says 5yrs or 60,000 miles in which I am covered for both...

getting it done this coming up friday at 10am..
