I just bought an 06 STi w/ 2,900 miles on it, I'm just wondering if I should do the oil changes myself or if it's even gonna save me much money. If not, should I take it to the local tire & repair shop to do oil changes & service or should I drive a little extra and pay a few more $$ to have the subaru place do it? Are there any other things besides oil I need to monitor within the net 5-10k mileS? Hope that wasn't too confusing, thanks for any input!

I do all my own maintenance even the 30k mile one. You know it is done right and can also keep an eye out for problems that could be arrising. Not to mention I had a dealership try to kill me one time after replacing a wheel by double stacking hubcentric rings on one rim.
Plus you get a feeling of satisfaction or pride knowing you did it and did it right.

I do all my oil/filter changes, you name it. I take a digital picture using the cameras date stamp of the oil/filter receipts and odometer when changed and burn it to a blank cd I keep secure. Did the same thing to my last car I traded in and got more then book value when presented to the dealer who then could get more retail of the car themselves.
