    BRAKE light

im not sure if this topic goes in this forum.. but here it goes...

well........ my car is running perfectly fine... but on the ride home today i decide to launch my car so i can "perfect" my launch ..
but everytime i launch, about around 5-6000 rpm my brake light comes on....
i was wondering if this has/does happen to anybody in here....
and is this bad or normal or what?
if it is bad could u tell me possible problems that might be causing this.

Yeah thats the weirdest thing I have ever heard, who knows man, how do you know if your brake lights are on anyway, or is it your parking brake light on the dash?

Try topping off the brake fluid resivour (sp?) with brake fluid. It might be within the range when stopped, but when you launch at 5K rpm, the G-Forces will make the fluid slosh around. With that many g-forces, it's probably making the fluid meter read 'too low' for a split second during launching.

I've seen this before with a previous car and everytime I took a turn with a lot of side momentum, the 'brake' light would come on for a second. (the car didn't have enough power to trigger it when taking off from a start).

    Good luck...

Maintenance check? Just pop the hood and look how much brake fluid is in the reservoir. Doesn't really take a highly-trained pro. They even help you out by putting low and full marks on the side.

oh my gosh... that's crazy how you use that term too. I could have sworn me and my friends were the only ones who used that.. cool man.
isn't it wierd that the driver has one also?? I never seen that before and kinda wonder how that would be usefull

I did not even know it was there, once I read your message, I went out and looked. I was under the impression that if you are fast enough to be saying " HOLY S**T", you should be holding the steering wheel. Unless I have been doing it wrong for the last ten years.....

Seriously, it is probably to help big guys like me slide my fat ass out without ripping the side of the seat over time. Ever look at the seats in a high milage prelude?

I had this problem with my 93 Escort. As the clutch bites, the brake-lights would come on. I took it to a guy and he told me some spring was broken. He replaced it and that fixed it. I can't for the life of me remember what spring it was. It didn't even matter how high the RPM's were when I 'launched' (haha) in my Escort!
