    question about oil change

    this might be a noob question, but i was just wondering about how often yall change ur oil? for me i do it around every 3k miles and rotate my tires every 6k. is that about right? insight/feedback would be appreciated thanks!

    I measure the tread depth with a gauge regularly and rotate when the front and the rear tire tread differs by less than 2/32".

    4k is standard on oil, +-1K is based on pref, and if the treadwear of your tires is above 280-300 and you dont plow it into every corner, 6K is fine for rotation.

    are you guys doing 3k/4k even with mobil 1 syn?
    I used to run around 5k/6k with mobil 1 but I've only had my suby for a limited time now.

    i just did mine yesterday and i changed every 3k or less (mobil 1 syn)

    No offense but your throwing away perfectly good oil..... mobil 1 is easily good for 5 to 6 thousand miles....i personally change mine every 5k

    well that oil was pretty dark and thick also i live in ca not pa tep makes a difference

    if you do your own oil changes, remember to change out the change the oil drain bolt gasket. I never knew that until a tech told me that they change it everytime they do oil changes. I've been using the same gasket for all my oil changes and never thought of it.

    Just go to your local subaru dealer and ask for one.

    Sorry but with different brand tires, the treadware rating doesnt apply. It must be among the same brand tire. That is also a bad way to figure out when to rotate tires.

    I change every 3000(mobil 1 for the win) just because it doesn't hurt and is pretty much the standard oil change interval for all automobiles for the most part. Tires are every 6k so yeah you are fine there.
