    Static.

Everytime I close the door of my 06 wrx SW I get a statick shock from the door...shtack! Every single time. I thought it was the Sirius plugged into the cigarette lighter that was not grounded, I disconnected tried again and...SHTACK! Again. Any idea why? It's merely annoying, but I would like to know why.

Do you have clothes seats? Sliding in and out may cause static electricity.

Cloth seats will do that. When your clothes slide on the cloth seats it builds up static electricity. Try touching a metal part of the door while you are getting out.
My water heater has a blow off valve.

That's exactly what I do. My prior car had leather but my wife's car has cloth. Drove me crazy exiting her car sometimes! Anyway, with the TR, I now have a habit of touching metal on the door before moving away from the seat.

Ok so I'm not alone here...good to know...touching a metal part is what triggers the...SHTACK!

no big deal anyway..unless you happen to touch your fuel door

Close the door with the inside handle. Takes some practice but it works.

My dad has a Taurus with these nasty cloth seats, that thing is the worst for shocks. Whenever I borrow the car I use the inside handle method, I swear that thing builds up such a big charge you could make it into an arc welder.
