Higher EGT's

I need help, my fiance drives my scooby now, because I got my Gixxer, anyway I drove it the other day and noticed when at WOT in 3rd or 4th gear, the EGT's go above 1400 degrees getting close to 1600 degrees. The car also smokes more at WOT. What is causing this? It's a 02 WRX with almost 60K on her. For mods, turboback, up-pipe, cobb tuning and a boost controller. The plugs were also changed about 1 year ago. Help thanks!

Cobb AP and a BC? That is redundant and dangerous.

I didn't want to hazard a wild guess, but all bets are off if he's going against Cobb's recommendation and running Cobb's map and also a BC. Remove the boost controller and see if things don't work better. (assuming that's what he meant by Cobb tuning...)

Agree'd he could mean a Cobb TBE or Intake or Sticker for that matter lol.

Running an AP and BC makes no sense. AP increases Boost, BC just blindly turns it up. Thats a lot of boost running through the engine.

I got the accessport after the boost controller, that is why. As far as too much boost goes, I really only use it for the drag strip and even then that is only to reach 16 psi. I have been running this setup for about a year and have never had any problems with the car. The egts remained the same until recently, where they have jumped 200 degrees.

You do realise that Stage 2 is 15.8 psi on the AP. The boost controller is redundant and most likely the source of ALL of your problems.

Really, because I never got 15.8 psi out of the AP. After I went to the stage 2, the most I could get out was 13.5-14.5 psi, the stock settings on the car.

But I will take everyones advice and take of the boost controller. Thanks for the help.

13.5 in 3rd floored is stock boost.
14.7 in 3rd floored is stage 1.
15.8 in 3rd floored is stage 2 (you most likely didnt give it enough time to learn so you never got the full boost upgrade).
