    Not reaching full boost

I have a 03 WRX and I was running on .09 mpa's for a while... but now it wont reach full boost in 1st and 2nd gear......

I'm using an HKS boost controller...

could it be my turbo taking a crap on me?

BC's do go bad. What other mods do you? Are you going WOT I assume? What kind of load on the motor? At what rpms were you going off of before? It isnt un common not to see full boost in the lower gears.

The car has an HKS 3" from turbo back....HKS highflow intake and HKS BOV...

The car is pretty much stock after that. power wise. She used to reach full boost at 3k at WOT all the time.... I just recently started to notice she wouldn't reach the desired boost level anymore...

The engine has 51k on it.

Check the BOV spring or operation. Could be bleeding pressure at lower engine loads.
No personal experience on this but LOTS of Subie owners pooh-pooh aftermarket BOV's, BC's, and CAI's.

Most of the time you won't hit max boost in 1st, sometimes in 2nd. Are you hitting it in 3rd gear?

Yup im trying to reach full boost in 3rd gear.

    And I don't believe it's a manual boost controller.

I heard something about the ECU cutting back boost at high rpm...... could this be the case?

    then what is this?

the ecu doesn't cut back on boost the turbo itself really cannot keep pushing air above about 6000 rpms due to its size

Isn't the HKS EVC an electronic boost controller?

And you're probably correct.... meh. VF34 is looking a lot better. thanks guys... I love this site. I've been a huge Honda fanatic but coming here and not hearing all the BS you hear on those other sites is relief.. thanks a million.
