    Please Help!!! CEL issue...

I was merging into traffic yesterday and as I was accelerating in first gear I hit a pothole, I shifted to second and noticed that my car had thrown a CEL. I was on my way home, so as soon as I pull in the driveway I pull out the AP to check and see whats going on. I follow the instructions for checking CEL's but the AP is not finding any. I go thru the routine a couple of times but still nothing. I go ahead and attemp to clear the cell (reset ecu) and it will not clear it. I then remove the battery cable and push the brake for a few seconds and still, when I repace the cable and turn the car on I get the damn CEL!!

I am out of idea's...anyone know whats wrong with my car? Do I need to take it to the dealer??

    Any help is appreciated!

Like OMG, i know exactly whats wrong with you car with that information!!!!

No seriously, take it to autozone or any such place and have them pull the code for free, or if you get your hands on an OBD-II scanner, you can do it yourself.
Do that, list your mods, does the car feel different in any way, etc, then update us....dealer is always last option....

ok so the secondary air system is an emission related system that injects extra oxygen into the exhaust pipe to burn off any extra fuel. the system only activates on cold starts (when the coolant temperature is between 15 and 35 degrees Celsius). the system consists of a large air pump, one or two combi-valves and a solenoid if im not mistaken. The valves are controlled via vacuum lines that cause them to open and close.

I suggest locating the vacuum lines and check them to make sure theyre not popped off, frayed, cut, etc. I dont really remember much else as to the cause. I havent had any problems with this stuff so i can not give you a location. Hopefully someone else can add to this.

Just a side thought, check your boost solenoid, maf, all the like, etc.

also, if it wont reset, its a hard code, its more then likely electrical, i completely overlooked that. Check over all the electrical connections going to the air pump.

So then follow said instructions above and get ahold of the factory service manual that has the diagnostic tree in it for the DTC's.
