    Need help troubleshooting dome light.

Hello all, I joined just to ask this question and possibly for future information. I have a 2005 WRX as seen in my avatar. Anyways, when I first got the car 4-5 months ago I remember the dome light working normally when doors were opened and closed. About 2 months ago I noticed that it no longer worked, except when in the on position. Yes, I know the middle position is for the dome light to be on when the doors are open. I've checked the fuses, read the manual about the Valet settings and etc., searched on this site and Googled for other sources, but I'm having trouble. So in short, my dome light doesn't come on when a door is opened, even though the switch is in the correct position. It does however work when switched to the "always on" setting and turns off in the "off" setting. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm left in the dark on this one.

I would say take to the dealership. Should be a quick and easy fix.

I'm still having trouble finding help. Does anybody else have an idea? If not I'll just have to wait it out for a while.

does it turn on with any of the doors? if so it would be a bad pin switch.
you could try takin out a pin switch and sending ground directly to the pin wire and see if it comes on. have you recently done ANY electrical or otherwise work on the vehicle??

None of the doors actuate the light. And I haven't done any recent electrical work either.

I'm not sure what the wiring looks like but it could also be a bad switch in the dome light. If someone had the wiring diagrams for this car that they could send me I could give you some advice on where to start looking.
