Is this boost spike?

My 06 has a condition that I think may be boost spike but I am not sure. If I hit the gas about half throttle quickly my boost gauge shoots up to like 9 PSI and then will back down to somewhere around 5 PSI. Those aren't the exact numbers but are some examples. I wasn't sure if this was boost spike. I allways thought boost spike was when it spiked past target boost before backing down. Can someone shed some light on this for me. Thanks

Anytime you floor it when it's about mid throttle you're going to see it go high then come back down just a tad. If you were to do this in 5th gear on the highway you may see it more. The boost solenoid is trying to counteract the increase in boost but it can go high and come back down. I don't think its anythign to worry about. Boost spike would be when it goes higher than target at full throttle, but its very noticable if you hit fuel cut.. Just make sure it's not boosting over what it's max boost would be and your'e fine.

I just wanted to make sure I wasnt hurting the car. It really only does it when I hit the gas about half throttle quickly. I see the boost gauge go up and then back down even if I don't move the gas pedal at all.
