    Premium to regular ?

I don't race my wrx. I don't mod the car, either. Will using regular gas instead of premium have a big effect on the car?If the answer is that my 0 to 60 times will suffer, I can live with that.I'm only concerned with not hurting the engine. Anybody know for sure what the effect might be?

Yes, it's in your owner's manual.

Using a lower octane fuel than recommended will allow the car to run, but not optimally. The ECU will attempt to correct the timing/fuel curves to prevent damage, and you can use 87-regular if you are stuck somewhere and need to get home and there is no other fuel available. If there is other fuel available though, use that instead.

you will get massive detonation, fouled spark plugs, worse gas milage, and oh yeah, you might do permanent damage to your motor. you should have bought a Prius.

You cannot run on regular, the engine is under too much stress to warrant 87 oct. The manufacturer is not lying to you. The truth is that if you can't afford the extra $2 a tank you should be driving a different car.

Does $3-5 a tank really save you all that much money? Umm. no.

I drive 104 Miles a day on average...and will never use regular. The car's built and configured for premium.

reminds me of a 600 SEL Mercedes I just saw at a repair shop....some Russian Mafia Pricess had it towed in and said it stopped running after she filled up, all it does is shoot black smoke out of the exhaust when the motor turns over (using the starter).

turns out she filled it with diesel...it was cheaper.

    to a $120k car with a V-12 motor.
