what are some good brands of oil? What is the best, top of the list? I have heard good stuff about mobil 1 and a brand called royal purple. I need peoples opinion. Thank you
Those are pretty good. It's pretty hard to find bad motor oil; just stay away from $0.49/quart convenience store crap and you should be fine. It's more important to have a good oil change interval and use the right weight of oil than to worry about the brand, IMO. I like synthetic M1, but dino stuff works just fine.

works very very well
but my car is driven harder than most.....

i swear by MOTULE!! in the engine, the trany, and the rear diff. MOTULE. SOOO good. if you put MOTULE in your car and dont notice a difference, then come here and tell me off, cuz i think it is the very best!

I run M1 in my rex, and both racecars.
M1 for me....after about 6000k mile break-in.
as long as you replace it at appropriate intervals and change the filter, there's very little difference in what oil you use...unless you're racing on a daily basis.

Also dino oil will build up a slug in every corner of the engine in time, where syntetcs aren't.
Stick with a good name brand oil in the proper weight and change it like it should and it wont matter. Also something to think about whenever switching brands or styles (weights or syn.) be sure to monitor oil consumption. I check my oil at every fill up but many folks dont. After switching make sure you do.
I used Castrol 5-30 my last oil changes with no consumption issues. I will probaly switch to M-1 at my 12,000 oil change if I have the car that long.
