    7500 mile service?

Just got this reminder in the mail. Even though I'm still 2500 miles away, I'm thinking about it. How much is it? Is it worth it? What exactly do they do?

Check the Periodic Maintenance sticky thread. 7500 involves an oil change and tire rotation. The expanded schedule also recommends crawling under the car to have a look at the axle boots.

Your dealer will probably try to extract some insane price from you. As you can see this is at most a $45 job. Or do it yourself for the price of oil and a filter. The axle boot inspection is described in the PM sticky. All you're looking for is cracking of and grease leaking from the rubber boots at the end of the half shafts.

I changed my oil at 3k miles. I drive a lot, about 2-3 full tanks a week. I'm now a few hundred away from 6k. Should I get the oil changed at 6k? If so, should I have them do the rest of the 7.5k maintenance? Or should I wait till 7.5k?

Stick to your normal oil change schedule. Might as well have them do the other at the same time. DON'T let them charge you over $20 for the additional stuff. I think my dealer wanted like $150 or something nuts like that for the whole "service".

I did checkt he schedule, but it also says if you drive a lot do change oil every 3k miles.

When do you all change oil? By the schedule or every 3k miles?

LOL, 2000 for me! When I said your schedule, I meant YOUR schedule as everyone seems to have a different opinion.

They tried to charge me over $100 for this 'service' too. Needless to say I had them change my oil and told them to pass on the rest.

Anyone else get annoyed looks from the mechanics when you don't comply 100% with what they recommend? I hate that!

get the list of "reccomended service" and then take it somewhere else. i did that for my 30K service, and saved over $300.

also, many of the items are stupid. just have your tires rotated, brakes checked while the wheels are off, oil changed, and that should be it.
