I searched around this forum and NASIOC and can't find why I'm getting a CEL for:
P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
My radiator fan is going off at maximum speed, and I can go past 5K rpm's. The engine starts to bog and stutter hard. It drives ok just not at high RPM's. My Speedo still works unlike others who've thrown up this code. I have limited time to work on it and I've reset the ECU several times but it always comes back after 5 minutes of driving.
Could there be a short in the ECU rpm wire? Where exactly is the speed sensor? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Did you replace the speed sonsor? That's what it's telling you is malfunctioning.

Where is the speed sensor? Would that cause my radiator fan to go on full blast along with limiting my RPMs/Boost?
Also I recently went to COBB stage II, A couple of days ago I did a hard reset by unplugging the neg terminal on the battery. Do I have to reflsh the ECU with stage II again?![]()
I''m not totally sure, but speed sensors are usually located on the wheel hubs on 4 wheel disc systems, it's the same sensor that's used for the ABS system if I'm not mistaken.
I'm not sure about any of the other questions though,
I don't want to give you wrong information so I'll let someone else tell you for sure.

I checked the ABS sensors already and I guess I didn't know what I was looking for but the wiring was fine. The sensors had some metal shavings on it but I figured that was normal due to it's magnetic nature.
I'm so lost...![]()

Dagnabbit. OK Desperate measures had to ensue. I took off my Unmarried the Accessport from the ECU. Reset ECU and test drove. Kaka, CEL came back on and still wasn't allowing me to boost or go past 5Krpm's.![]()
I wasn't sure of what the hell else could be the problem. It's getting cold outside and the only warmth I had was from the (2) 1000w spot lights I had pointing at my back. I decided to take a look at the ECU and check the wiring for the vehicle speed sensor and whaddayaknow...
Stupid crimp fell off!!! I just wrote about not using crimps becuase they will eventually come loose. I felt like a total idiot!!Anyways I solder it back together and got some heatshrinks to cover up the mess. Put everything back together and took a test drive. No more CEL and boosting, no stutter!! YAY!!
and of course I had to go back to stage II on the Cobb AP. Here's to my happy ending!!
