Hello,
I have a 2004 WRX. The low beams on each side are not working.
Here's what I've done since the other headlight stopped working.
The turn signals, fog lights, high beams, tail lights and brake lights are all working. The battery kill switch above the steering column has no affect on the headlights.
I have a few other issues with the vehicle, so unless I can fix it myself or for cheap the WRX will sadly need to be sold. I'm no mechanic, but I've done a fair bit of electrical work: home, hobby, computers and a bit with cars. I've got a multi-meter and I'm familiar with the basic concepts: serial vs parallel, Ohms law, AC vs DC, etc. Last thing I can think to try is putting the OEM headlights back, but I won't have access to them for a few days and would like to fix it sooner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Arthur
I have a 2004 WRX. The low beams on each side are not working.
- The passenger side headlight stopped working. I checked the fuse and it was OK. I forgot to check the relay. My lights were really cloudy even after restoring them a few times, so I just replaced both headlights. The passenger headlight was working.
- A couple days later I was informed that my tail lights were out, so I checked the fuses and bulbs. Soon after it began to alternate between my passenger headlight and tail light working. 90% of the time the headlight doesn't work and the tail lights work. When the tail lights stop working it usually isn't for more than a day or two. When the headlight stops working it can last weeks or even months.
- After many months of dealing with only one headlight and fog lights now neither low beams work.
Here's what I've done since the other headlight stopped working.
- Checked fuses visually and by swapping
- Swapped horn and headlight relays
- Replaced dimmer switch
- Disconnected DRL module via connector behind glove box
- Systematically removed every fuse to try to locate a short
- Inspected all wiring I could find of interest for damage though I could have easily missed something
