Is it the end of the world if my downpipe heat shield comes off?

title says it.. its the stock down pipe on an 07 wrx.. i was cruising with some friends and the mother effer popped right off some how.. i have it but its kind of mangled. i thought about heat wrapping it but then i did some research and that didn't sound like the best idea.. i guess my question is: is it ok to leave the heat shield off? the car isn't anything crazy. will it be the end of my car if i don't do anything about it? thanks

For the short term you are fine. Source a replacement.

You definitely don't have to take your engine apart to replace a heat shield.... should be like 3 bolts. I wouldn't even worry about it... aftermarket downpipes don't even have them, turbo heatshield only.
I have an STi with an intake and no tune, I never change my oil, and my wheel spacerz are mad tyte.

OEM heatshield is more like 7 bolts, but yeah your point stands.
