    Weird Heat Issue Please Help

    Hey guys,

So, I'm new to owning a subaru, but my whole life I had always wanted an impreza. About a month ago I got an 02 WRX Sedan with 203k miles on it. It's got new hoses, head gaskets, brake pads, and a radiator. The problem I'm having is that it gets unbelievably hot. The temperature gauge is reading normal, but even after 10 minutes of driving it gets so hot it smells and hot to the point that touching the hood is physically painful. Do these cars usually run this hot or do I have a problem? Any information or suggestions would be very helpful.

Try burping the cooling system. Search for how-to threads here. However, it is unclear whether you have an actual problem since your gauge seems to be working and reading "normal."
