The shop manual says to pull the intercooler, hook your vac gauge up to where the brake booster hose attaches, replace intercooler, then read the gauge. Why. Why wouldn't you just pull that very same hose off of the brake booster itself and read the vacuum from there. I can assume that it's to cut out any false readings that might arise from cracks or splits in that line but I doubt that line gets much abuse in it's lifetime. Has anyone else done both, and gotten two different readings?
