So i bought a 2003 subaru wrx (sedan) a few weeks back and today when i got in it and tried to back out of my drive way, the car absolutely did NOT want to be put in reverse. I sometimes have the same problem with my 1997 toyota tacoma but usually after rolling forward a few inches, it lets you put it in reverse just fine. Anyway this was not the case with my subaru. I tried rolling forward, still didn't work. Then it got to the point where my car was up against the side of my house so basically there was no more room to roll forward. I ended up grinding the reverse gear like a MF before it finally popped in to reverse and i was able to back up. Anyway 3 questions A: Is this a common problem, and is there any known causes to this problem, like maybe low transmission fluid, ETC? B: I noticed that after i had been driving around for a while it would go into reverse just fine. no grinding whatsoever does this seem odd? C: I really grinded the heck out of reverse, but i had no choice really I'm not an idiot i know that its not good for the car, but whats the absolute worst case scenario damage wise for my car? any info on this topic would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
