Ok...so I am pretty tired of trying to figure out what fluids I need in my car.
I read as many other threads that I could an am somewhat confused.
I originally bought up a bunch of Redline 75w90 and then read that it has "friction modifiers" in it. Figuring that might be bad for my tranny, I cancelled. Then I bought up the Redline 75w90NS stuff.
I kept digging for more information, and came to the conclusion I need to buy the Subaru Extra S stuff. Only mileage is prompting me to change my fluids. I have NEVER changed my tranny/diff fluids. Car now has over 60K miles. I know...stupid stupid stupid.
My tranny does not grind and feels the same as when I bought it.
So..I have purchased 5 quart bottles of Subaru Extra S from Fredbeans store. My questions are...1) Who makes and bottles the stuff
2)Can I use it in the rear diff too? I ordered 5 because I need 3.5q for the tranny and another .8q for the rear diff I think.
My local Subaru dealer uses Mobil1 for the tranny! I asked them why Subaru wouldn't just be using Subaru Extra S and he paused and had no real answer. WTF!!!!! Lost all faith in them completely. Phoned another dealer and they said, "don't know...we get it in bulk...I have never heard of Subaru Extra S" He then asked, is your car an automatic? I replied "there are no automatic 09 WRXs". Hung up the phone after that. WTF!!! Subaru is scary.
I am thinking maybe I shouldn't change the fluid at all. LOL!!! I will kick myself if I change it all out and then have a bunch of problems.
At the end of my ordering, phoning and cancelling...I have 5 quarts of Subaru Extra S coming. Can I use all this to change my tranny and diff...or does something special have to go in the diff too? I know for STi it might...but I have an 09 WRX. Help please.
