my lights went off after i checked the gs cap and the fluids took it for a drive and drove fine. ended up driving it up to the dealer and they ran it with there computers and told me there is something wrong with my computer for the throttle. i thought it ran fine but they said its not. so ended getting a loaner. not to happy got family from out of town and wanted to show it off a bit. they said there waiting for subaru inc. to call they said someone has to fly in from there to update the computer. im not sure how much i believe all that. this sucks.

Wow that's a bummer. When the dealership told me the computer codes came back as clutch and air conditioning, it didn't convince me that was real as both work absolutely fine. And the guy telling me this at the dealership seemed confused as well, but as with you - they were waiting to hear back from Subaru inc.---I had to get back to work so they ended up just letting me drive off since the warning lights turned off when gas cap was tightened. Both the air conditioner and clutch work great, I have been using both for about 200 more miles now.. highway and city.

I wonder if the gas cap issue can trigger other abnormalities with computer diagnostics.

Either way - I plan to go back to the original dealership that I got car from (it's a bit of a further drive, 60 miles) for my first oil change - probably around 1,500 miles to be on the safe side - and tell them what happened. Maybe they will be more informed on such issues.

Will keep updating soon as I get more info.

    Thanks for the info Basqueo81

    Cruise Control Check Engine problem

It happened to me today! 2015 wrx with 3k miles. I was coming to a stop and the engine started revving to 3k. It wouldn't stop. The check engine came on and the cruise control dash indicator started flashing. Then when the traffic light turned green, I could barely accelerate over to the curb. It felt like the clutch was slipping. I shut it off and called my Subaru dealer. They told me to bring it right in. It's a known problem and there is a software fix. It took them an hour to fix that and the gas door sticking problem. That's another known 2015 wrx defect. Gas door started sticking right after my 1k check. I had to use a credit card to pop it open. There is a kit that fixes it.

I have owned a 2002 Impreza WRX for 8 years and rode her to the ground.

I recently picked up a brand new 2015 WRX, I drove it out of dealership with 7 miles!

I know you are suppose to take it easy for first 1,000-5,000 miles .. synthetic oil, hi octane gas, oil change after first 1,000-3,000 miles.. etc.

Riding around, awesome ride. Now it has 200 miles, I've owned it for maybe 5 days. Haven't abused it at all. I was riding to work then suddenly I couldn't accelerate, but it kept the revs around 2,500 even when I took my foot off gas. Luckily I was going around 30 mph, so I pull over to a gas station, put it in neutral (still revving) and turn it off.

I let it rest for a few minutes, turn it back on without issue, however... the Cruise Control light was blinking (I made sure cruise control is off/canceled multiple times) - and Check Engine light is on!!! Barely 200 miles and I been taking it easy. The Engine temperature is normal (just less then half) , oil is full, coolant full, etc.

I made it to work but now pretty annoyed that I have to take my brand new subaru wrx to the Subaru shop (according to the owners manual - keep speeds low and go to shop asap)

Anyone else had similar issues? I will advise what the issue is once I get my car back...

Then buy your own code reader. You can get them now for under $50. I have two. I keep one in each car.

CEL just came on this morning for the 2nd time. I have little over 9k on my 2015 WRX. First time I took the car to dealership, they said the code was P2610 and that there was a fix for it, technical bulletin or something rather. Basically, a flash update. Now the problem looks the same, checked gas cap, CEL is still there.
One thing I noticed that was the same when CEL popped both times, is that I started the car in Sports mode. I cant imagine that being an issue, but would not be surprised. I am taking the car to dealership on Monday morning to check it out.

Just happened to my car....Literally just hit 5k miles and thought it was just an oil change reminder. Now this thread scares the crap out of me..off to the dealer I guess.

Just happen to me. Went to start my car and CEL came on and cruise control light was blinking. Turned it off then checked all fluids and they were fine. Turned my ac off and when I turned my car back on the lights went off. Going to take it to dealership in the morning.

Hey all. I sold my specv this November and purchased a 2014 wrx from my neighbor who is a whole sale car dealer. It had roughly 5000 miles on it. I drive about 115 miles a day and have about 21000 on the car now. I've checked fluids gotten oil changes regularly and rotated tires etc. I'm running full synthetic now as well.

Tonight while cruising at about 2400 rpm it seemed as though it was lurching slightly as if I was taking my foot off of the gas slightly and then applying it again. It seemed weird and so I cruised higher and lower to see if there was a similar outcome but couldn't really tell. About 10 minutes later the engine light comes on and cruise control light is blinking. I tried to cancel cruise and attempted the gas cap tighten when car is off method.

The only thing I have done different is use my ac this week. I can count on two hands the amount I've used the ac since purchasing the car and I've used it most this week alone.

Looking to take the car in early tomorrow. I know it's a year older model but it is still relatively new mileage wise.

Just thought I'd put my couple cents in here. I'll update when I have new information.

    Peace.

had the same issue pop up on my 2015 WRX yesterday. 19k miles. ABS light and traction control initially came on also, but went off. Car had a couple stumbles and was idling a little rough the day before the light came on and thought it was bad gas. Filled up (with 93 octane as always) and made darn sure the cap was on tight.

Off to the dealership now and will report back on what they found.

Not sure bout y'alls Rex's but when this happened with the same symptoms as y'all are having it turned out to be the down stream cat. Dealer replaced it for free. I've got a 2010 Subaru forester non turbo.

UPDATE TO THIS (I'm original Topic Creator)

Well I've had my 2015 WRX now for a little over a year, and just hit 10,000 mile mark. Been nothing but headache after headache, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid after spending $25k+ on a new car.

More issues. Now let me be clear, I do not abuse my car. I've not redlined it (maybe got close once after 7,000 miles) , and I generally keep it at 2,500 RPMS if I'm cruising around. Every now and again I'll rev it up to 4500-5000 rpms to feel that WRX power, but honestly not often at all. My coworker had a 2014 Impreza WRX that eventually traded in because he was having engine issues at 10,000 mile mark and so I was being more careful then usual.

Also, I've changed oil (synthetic) three times .. maybe four.. since I bought it new. And always used 91 octane rated gas.

I'm a big WRX fan but this new car been nothing but trouble for me and I'm getting really irritated.

So the Check Engine light came on I think around 5,000 mile mark. The dealership I went to had informed me it was because of some sensors.. Whatever, I'll swallow that. So they replace one side and it seemed to be ok. Drove it around no issues. Then at around 10,000 miles - the Check Engine light on AGAIN. So I drive it to work, and as I'm about to call Subaru, I start up car again. Well it's gone. Figuring it was just a loose gas cap, I felt fine to keep driving since it was riding good.

Well a week later, ding ding ding.. Check Engine light..ok wtf. So after checking the gas cap, it was still going off. I bring it into Subaru dealership.. They ultimately decided that it was the sprocket by the crankshaft sensors , which blows my mind something that far into the engine is already having issues with no real abuse to the car. So after they get the part, apparently the light isn't going away - and now experiencing rough idle.

Luckily it's all under warranty. But I'm without my WRX for a week + and feel very insecure about riding it in the future. I don't know how long this issue has been in the engine, if it's damaged other things... But all I got to say is I'm losing faith in Subaru, especially after hearing a trustworthy coworker's experience.

Curious if anyone else has had similar problems, or if I should worry about having more issues down the line - or these parts could be effecting other parts.
