Just like to start out with a thanx to those that chimed in your advice is invaluable. This was my first belt on an interference motor. The one thing that I came to understand what happens with this motor is that at the point of belt removal the valves go zero-lift or closing. I finally finished up on 4-12 at 3AM. Course you can tell I started quite some time ago. shift work. I wanted to make new as many parts that I could ie. hoses and crank seal, except cam seals. Replaced oil cooler lines with Gates #19929 old one very bloated after 12 years as well as water pump and radiator hoses with new belts. Used that Gates timing belt kit. All went well.
