    Oil leak? where is it coming from?!

    Whats up with this oil leak? is this common? where is the most common place for it to get a leak?

    The splatter


    somewhere in this area the culprit? I need to change the oil so maybe when I change the filter it will go away?




    Any suggestions?!

    There are numerous seals and gaskets. Wipe everything clean and watch to see over time where it starts seeping.

    Yeah, thats what I was going to do. I just wondered if there were some common places oil leaked in this area.

    Good lord...kinda looks like there's a poor seal at the oil filter.

    From the bottom moving up: The drain plug crush washer (I see yours is clean though), the oil filter o-ring, the oil "cooler" fitting onto the block, the oil pan (sump), the rear main seal, the oil feed to the turbo, the breather fitting on the turbo-side valve cover, and the valve cover gasket -- assuming you're looking at oil.

    Yeah Im hoping thats what it is. Its at my mechanics so I cant change the oil right now, and I just bought a house so Im moving this weekend but I want to look at it so bad.. ha.

    It looks like its coming somewhere from the bottom so yeah Ill check if from the bottom up. Thanks.
