Question New to Subaru/wrx. Need help identifying something.

Hi! Just purchased my first Subaru. I bought an 02 wrx wagon which I absolutely love. Went for a ride in a friends stage 3 wrx and from then on I was antsy to get my own. I come from a muscle car/gm background so that is the platform I am used to working on. Just need some help identifying some rusted out parts so I can replace. Is it something I can do on my own? Or do I need to go to Subaru? Any other tips for a first time wrx owner would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks a lotClick image for larger version.

That's the factory subframe. There are aftermarket alternatives that offer increased rigidity and decreased weight. An example is below:

Looks like your front frame rails are rotted. Would have to defer to others here as to ease of repair on a Subie.

Thanks for the replies, the hunt begins. Does anyone know if the subframe from a legacy or forester would mount up? Just thinking if i went to the wreckers, the impreza is a little more rare of a find. Im in canada we don't have the retail options like the US does for aftermarket parts.

    That looks unsafe to drive
If you're upset over someone elses opinions then the issue isn't with the person giving the opinion but rather yourself for taking it personal.
