    Rock chips = DEATH

So needless to say the paint on the 08+ subarus suck balls. My entire front bumper, fenders and hood is filled with rock chips!!! I've tried everything in the book, waxing, touch up paint but finally decided to submit a claim with SOA. They denied me stating that rock chips are not paint chips but normal wear and tear and caused by the driver. Really? Then why are hundreds of thousands of subaru owners complaining!!!!!!! They did suggested I go through my insurance and see if they would cover it. I have a $500 deductible so I'm hoping the job will be near $1000 to justify this. I just can't believe a $30,000 car has horrible paint. I LOVE my subie but dammit subaru, get it together with the paint!

Ask anyone who can translate Japanese for you.

"Subaru" is literally translated into "Enjoy your soft paint, trollololol"

I'm trying to get ahead of it with a clear bra, but winter tires and steelies are priority, and I have other expenses with my house.... so I may have to face the wrath of sand, salt, on the Subie :{.

Hahaha!! Dude I was so pissed. I'm sure you know the feeling. I feel like I can't drive the car anywhere with out getting a chip in it. I'm supposed to drive up to Orlando from miami this week for horror nights but I think I'm gonna take my girls car. Lol rediculous. Idk if it's the silver metallic color but you can literally see every rock chip.

I was also thinking or wrapping it. That's another possibility.

I'm not sure how your insurance company are going to see this as anything other than normal wear and tear. And they only pay out for accidents. It's a crappy situation, but i think you're going to have to pay for this yourself.

I mean, we all want our cars to look nice and remain that way as much as possible. Unfortunately we bought a Subaru and with that comes inferior paint. In order to shave off some price for the above average performance we get, I guess some things have to suffer.

But not driving your car for fear of more rock chips? That's silly. You spent the money on the car, now drive it. It's not exactly a luxury or a show car that is worthy of being a garage queen...

I literally just did Miami to Orlando you will be fine as long as you take the turnpike and if I were you I would just put blue painters tape to bumper and the front of the hood to prevent from rocks and such.

yeah dont get me wrong, i enjoy the car and so some spirited driving here and there but on the highway, its another story. The insurance already gave me the green light to get a estimate for the paint job. im gonna see what happens. If they quote me $900 and my deductible is $500 then i think its worth it. im gonna post some pics tomorrow of the chips. theyre pretty intense.

You'll get it repainted, and you'll get more rock chips. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. You're wasting time and money with re-painting...just drive the car. It's not a luxury car or a garage queen...so stop treating it like one.

Yep. When I got my recent body work done, the insurance guy walked around with his marker marking any existing damage. I was horrified looking at all the circles and arrows all over my car. I hadn't even noticed half of them before, but he saw them, he marked them, and I almost, almost felt like crying...have had the car for ONE year. lol and paint chips are EVERYwhere.

Nothing to do, looks good from a distance still....
    Not so much anymore.
