    2003 WRX.....Hesitation?

Previously I experience a CEL code P0171...I tried to find the possible causes but still no luck so far. Already performed a tune up about 30,000 miles ago; I'm currently experiencing LAG every time I step on the gas, Some times when i take off quick it feels like the clutch is sleeping (difficult to explain, will probably upload a video sometime).

So, the question is, what do you subie noob and experts think I should do to get this hesitation gone? I'm thinking of replacing my plugs (I don't know much and I'm still on the learning process (noob)), do you suggest replacing my Ignition coil too? those babies cost some serious money BTW!.

    Your suggestion is greatly appreciated.

I would suspect a vacuum leak.

Are there mods on the car?

That's what I'm thinking; I went to the my local auto shop to perform a tests and found a big leak, but it was fixed, I wonder if a soapy water is better to use than smoke; what do you think?

Yes, there are mods on the car, it was modded when I bought it from my friend....

Question, if I perform a tune-up on my car, replacing the spark plugs, should I replace the coils too? Coils are very expensive.

Ummm yeah...I wouldn't start putting soapy water all over open intake parts when trying to find a boost/vac leak...

Wonder if some of the hesitation can also be caused by your clutch going?

As Zax asked...any mods done to the car?

Soapy water would be fine. Smoking the intake is much much easier.

I'm thinking about that too, I hope not though. It only has about 35,000 Miles.

I have the engine smoked; found big leaks and fixed it right then no other leaks are found, but of course if the engine is not running when tested.

The clutch is After Market ACT Stage 3...after market fly wheel, lighter weight. The car was tuned to 400 hp, but with the issues its having now, I doubt its still 400 hp. =(

400hp? What turbo and fueling upgrades have been done? You have successfully not answered my questions.

Start cruising at about 20-30mph at 2000 rpms or so on a straight away in 5th gear, go WOT. When you do this, it should just slowly and steadily climb. If you see RPMs fluctuate as you give it the gas, you know you have a problem with the clutch catching.

But again as Zax asked...WHAT MODS ON THE CAR?????
