leak in my trunk- 95 impreza wrx

theres a leak in my trunk, it seems to gather by the spare tyre. the other day i found about a litre of water under the spare tyre and saw rust occuring. The worst part is, it was getting into my electrics and making the car stall and the alarm would go off while driving. It seems to come from the left side of the bottom of the carpet( right hand drive).

i know this is a common problem just dont have any idea where its coming from

    anyone had similar experiences?

Well, most of the forum membership is US based, so we aren't terribly familiar with the WRXs older than 2002. But with a car that old, I would be checking for missing weather stripping/clogged drains as well as looking at the taillights for possible leaks. Expose as much of the inside of the trunk as you can, pulling covers and carpeting, dry it all out, the close the trunk and systematically dump water/check to see if you can see where it is coming in.
