    1993 wrx

    Hey i have a 1993 wrx

am having endless troubles with my car
the main problem im having now though is when the car is cold, it wont accelerate
like i put my foot on the accelerator and its like im putting the brakes on.

but after a little while ( 2-5 mins ) this problem goes away, except that the car sorta shutters while idling
now ive replaced alot of things on it

    Fuel pump
    Fuel filters
    Spark plugs
    4 brand new oem coils ( $720 ) FFS...
    ive tryed injector cleaner
had the car in for a diagnostics ( found nothing )

ive only owned this car for 4 weeks now and getting rather sick of it
    any suggestions would be great

    cheers

Well, maybe that model WRX was built that way the reason that I am saying because I owned 09 Honda civic si and vtec does not kick in until after engine reaches on certain temperature only reason that they are like that to keep the engine life longer for long term reliability.

Uh, no. This isn't a Honda. VTEC most certainly won't kick in, yo.

OP, I think you've done exactly as I would have done in your place. You wouldn't have a wideband O2 gauge installed by any chance would you? I'm wondering if your tip-in enrichment isn't up to par. Any modifications to the car? When was the oil last replaced?

    Hey there

oil was apparently not done that long ago. looks pretty clean to me.

no the only gauge i have is a boost gauge, no modifications only thing done is what i stated
just tried my friends MAF sensor( with pod filter ), and didnt help if anything made it worse, idling is quite bad, sounds as if it is missing. car is shaking alot
once i rev it, its fine

im gonna try running some fuel system cleaner in it tommorrow ( reckon that might help ? )

Intake air control valve, maybe? Just a guess. I don't know '93s at all. Not real good with my '02, but could be some coolant temp sensor.

Not tip in, but Cold start enrichment sure. I would say TGV failure, but that would generate a CEL... and those WRX did not have TGVs...

Either way you look at it, it seems the car is going into failsafe fueling.

That makes no sense. The O2 sensor is not used for OL or cold start enriched fueling.

Furthermore, the fact that it was covered in white makes me think you are running the car very lean.
