    Installing h1 bulb socket

Hey guys, I need help with installing an H1 bulb socket. Basically the car had HID lights but I'm switching to halogen temporarily. The power source has a red and black wire and the H1 socket only has a black wire. Is it ok to just connect the black wire and tape off the red? Just read the owners manual. Red goes to the ground on the headlight.
