My friends 05 STi does that for some reason. My 2011 STi doesn't seem to.

Is the 05 STi interior alcantara? I do not think it is off of the top of my head. That could have something to do with it.

My 06 has done it every day for 7 years. I just thought it was my electric personality.

I made a habit of touching the door with the back side of my hand since its less sensitive and dissipating the charge that way every time I get out.

Could a grounding kit help with this?

    Nope.

Static electricity has to do with a negatively charged surface meeting a positively charged surface. Hold on to the car in some way shape or form when you get out and you stay grounded to the car.

Shocking, I know. I've developed the habit of reachin around and grabbing the door locking "D-ring" like thingy in the frame. Then, while holding on to that, moving my butt out of the seat and getting out. Works for me.

Yeah, the alacantara accents in bugeye seats always help generate a nice zap when I get out of the car. I'm used to it.

It also depends on certain clothes. I bought a new jacket & I get zapped seriously every time I touch anything metallic. Especially when getting into the car.

Tony....that edit makes me hate you even more than I hate you if hating that much is possible. I kept things strictly medical, and you as a man of medicine should know this -_-.
