alright i need some help here, i have a R180 rear diff from a 2000 wrx sti. the gearing is 4.44 which is way to low for me. i want to know is it possible to take the ring and pinion out of a 2004 R180 wrx sti which is 3.90 gearing and bolt it in my 2000 R180???

this is not goin in a subaru! or any other car that will have all wheel drive, only the rear end!

Bump for an interesting question. I don't know for sure but from memory the housings are the same externally, implying "yes." Again, I'm uncertain -- because I'd opt to use the entire diff rather than change out the ring/pinion if possible.

    Bump anyone?

I believe this should be possible. Hell the ring and pinion from an R180 can even be installed in an R160 (same housing). I see no reason why a ring and pinion out of an R180 can't be compatible with another R180. I would contact AndrewTech or another transmission builder for confirmation.
