    Low boost?

Hey all, new to the forum and new to owning a Scooby!

So, I recently purchased a 2004(53 plate) WRX wagon.

It's completely standard apart from the PPP pack which was already on it when I purchased, its got 72000 on the clock, 3 owners and has full service history from new.

Here's the problem, the car ran perfect for the last few weeks but recently it seems to have lost some power, it doesn't pin you back in your seat under acceleration like it did although it's still quick.

After reading up on common issues etc... I thought it may have developed a boost leak so I've taken it to the garage who performed a smoke leak test, tested the wastegate and checked the ECU for errors. Nothing, no leaks, wastegate working fine and no errors stored on ECU and no CEL on.

Drove the car this morning at normal operating temp and it still felt like it wasn't getting full boost. After about 30 minutes the car progressively seemed to get quicker and the exhaust note seemed to change, had a bit more 'growl' to it but still not pinning you in your seat when accelerating like it used to.

So I'm thinking up-pipe leak? As the exhaust gets hotter, maybe creates a better seal thus improving boost but not fully as there is still a leak? Does this sound plausible? Would the smoke test have caught an up-pipe leak? Maybe I'm clutching at straws?

Anything else I should be checking/testing?

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you need to data log.

Do you have a boost gauge telling you that you're not boosting correctly?

Not yet, been looking around trying to decide which to get. Any suggestions here would be helpful too, far too many to choose from lol!

I can just tell it doesn't feel at all like it did a week ago, even the missus doesn't scream under acceleration anymore lol.

Anymore help would be greatly appreciated.
