So i just bought my 10 wrx about a week ago so im still getting used to driving a different manual car. So today i passed a guy doing a 30 in a 55. I started to pass him not really getting on it but enough to hurry cause of trafffic up ahead as soon as i got back in my lane i went to shift from 3rd to 4th, i know i know, i got 2nd instead SUPRISE! anyway when i shifted from 3rd in hopes for 4th i didnt bring the car passed 6k, when i hit 2nd as soon as i let the clutch out it jumped between 7k and 7.5k. I quickly pushed the clutch back in and put it in nuetral. i dont even think the car completely down shifted cause as soon as i let the clutch out it went right back in without hesitation. I know the rev limiter doesnt work for down shifting but from what i read there is a fuel cutt off that happens at a certain RPM. Does this apply for a down shift? Also, the car seems to be running fine and i do "not" have any CEL. I don't think i have a bent valve or anything, the idle seems fine and i don't hear any unusual noise. My main question is should i be concerned? I just got the car and my power terrain is extended to 100,000. The car itself only has 31k miles on the odometer. But im not sure if there going to charge me cause i just got the car about a week ago. Im just anal about my car just like everyone else. Some one please give me some advice. Also, if the wastegate is broke or a vacuum leak would i get code for that. Im pretty machanically inclined but this is my first forced induction car.
