What's going on with my car?!

I have a 08 WRX that I was driving up to the mountain yesterday to go boarding. I was in 5th, going to pass a car and my car jolted, almost like a hiccup. The CEL came on along with the TCS and the cruise control light blinking. This is the second time it's happend. On the way to get it looked at the lights turned off? Is this something serious or should I just wait it out?
    Thank you for reading

Mines done that before, only happens when I give it juice at low rpm's in 5th, I believe it knocked and it's like a knock retard kicking in due from too much boost and not enough fuel. That's just my .02

I consider it serious if it has happened multiple times. Do you still have a CEL? Where did you have it looked at and what did they say?

Sounds like overboost and fuel cut.

    Get the code read...

What we're looking for is the P#### value. Since you're in 5th gear, I'm assuming you tripped the "Boost Limit (CEL)" value, and threw an overboost code (P0244).

Is the car stock? When you went to pass someone, how heavy did you hit the throttle?

The CEL is off now. Went to get it scanned and the code was Po244. Which they said was a wastegate solenoid? It's all stock but the exhaust . Thank you so much for the help!!

Yep...overboost. It can be common with high engine load and especially colder climates. Fuel cut occurs during this situation so you don't continue to overboost, which would cause your engine to go pop.

By "stock but the exhaust" do you mean just a Catback? or a Turboback???

No way you threw a P0244 code with CC on @ 70.

In the future, when you go to pass someone, downshift.

Going up hill...extra load on the engine in 5th gear...

You should certainly downshift if you're trying to pass someone, uphill!

    Sorry let me re-say this,
First time this happend,it was on cruise control going 70 uphill.
Second time it happend, I was in 5th going to pass someone. I was already doing 75 at that time so I figured it wouldn't matter if I down shifted or not.
