Ouch!
It's going to cost a decent penny to do it right. Do you have insurance that would help cover it?
This is a discussion on HELP! Wrecked my boyfriend's 2011 WRX within the General Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Accidents. forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; Sooo I put a huge dent in the driver's front side panel backing out of parking spot into a pole/rain ...
Sooo I put a huge dent in the driver's front side panel backing out of parking spot into a pole/rain gutter. He recently bought the car from my mom for a steal-- they originally planned to sell it back to the dealer. Obviously he's less than pleased with me right now so I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I try to take it in for an estimate tomorrow. The damage is pretty bad- beyond PDR considering I must have f'ed up the alignment because the steering wheel is now tweaked way towards the left instead of sitting in the center.... The driver's door doesn't want to open because it is blocked by the damaged side panel and makes an awful scraping noise trying to get in/out. I am worried there could be more than just the body damage cause it sounded like something was loose or broken underneath while driving the car home. Can anyone give me any insight to what kind of damages/repairs I've caused? How much $$$$ am I looking at to fix this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated so can fix the car and salvage my relationship ASAP
Thanks in advance

A relationship that is based on the car your boyfriend has isn't worth salvaging, even if the car is...
That said, you need to take it to a body shop. They can assess the damage one, and can give you an estimate of what it'll cost to restore it back to original condition. Depending on what the insurance deductibles are on the vehicle, I'd consider paying out of pocket.

Insurance should be linked to the car. He can file a claim under his policy...Originally Posted by allyk

That's state by state. Some states insure the driver, some insure the vehicle.
Usually it's a convoluted combination of the two. Usually the insurance will insure the car, but you as a driver are also insured to drive other vehicles. In colorado I can file with either if her situation happened to me here.

WOW!!!!!! Your insurance is already sky high from previous claims I couldn't imagine why hahahaha. I would think the onlt reason the wheel is off to the left is because you hit the pole with the tire and it looks like that is the only reason that the car is not in worse shape. Just looking at the pictures I would say don't try to open the drivers door at all because you might be able to just replace the fender and fix whatever you bent or misaligned on the front end.
It's prob gonna be in the $2k-$3k range I'd guess. New fender, repair door, blend fender with the hood and front bumper. And what ever is messed up in the steering.
Wait, you can drive stick? This was your mom's car?
WTF! I can't get my girlfriend to drive out the empty practice lot.
Tell your guy to shut up and love you, its fixable.
