I'm guilty of it. For my most recent two cars, I have all expendables that are in solid form (filter etc.) in boxes and all receipts in binders.

OP, find a car with a full service history.

Sure, but they are overpriced over here. 2010 Limited with 24,000 miles is $29k, have only seen one 2009 with under 35,000 miles for under $25k (which is what my wife would like me to adopt as a limit). Do I even want to know what they cost in the US?

Yes but you need to check the manual for the exact volume to use.

While under warranty I used authentic Subsru filters that I purchased one at a time. This allowed me to keep dated receipts for the filters individually.

After warranty I used Subaru authentic filters, Purolator, and Super Tech. I still keep dated receipts.

Varies. Budget $5 USD or so.
