hey, so i have an 02 wrx i had the timing belt done a few months ago and the last few days i have been noticing a burning oil smell. any thoughts???
there are no visible leaks any where on the engine
did they replace the oil pump at the same time?
no just timing belt and just the standard 105k mile maintenance
are you losing oil? how does it run?
not a noticeable amount. she is a little sluggish but i know that there is a good size boost leak that i need to fix
My turbo oil seal began to leak around that time. Still haven't changed the turbo 90k miles later. Loses about 1 qt every 4k miles or so.
Still, it's weird that you just noticed the smell after the timing belt was changed. Maybe they loosened a bolt on the oil pump on accident?

Wingless alas. Too bad it took a 50 ton truck to make it happen.
