I live in western PA and the love oil and chipping the roads around here. Two different times now one of those little stones gets up into my rotor somewhere and makes a horrible squeaking sound when Im driving. The first time it ended up falling out in a few miles but this second time Its been in there for a few days. Its kinda embarrassing driving in a brand new car thats making horrible noises lol
Anyone have this happen to them?
It looks like it might be in between the rotor and that thin metal guard on the back of the rotor.

Is it where I just said it was? I took a decent look but I cant see a rock

It was in the rotor vanes in my case. Without pulling the wheel, it's going to be tough to determine where it is.Originally Posted by JLong

Western PA guy here as well. I had this same thing happen to me a month or two ago. I heard this awful squealing and was afraid a wheel was coming off since I had just rotated them. Stopped, checked, bolts were tight. Needed to get to work so just got back on the road, gave it some gas, and heard that thing launch out and ping off the wheel well. All good since. I thought the same thing though at first, "I can't have messed up brakes on a 8 month old car"

Nope, haven't had that happen to me yet :knocking on wood:
I will tell you though that if your area is oil-n-chip resurface prone that you should invest in some mud flaps soon to prevent damage to your sides from that crap.

I haven't had that one yet luckily. Good luck with it.

Had this happen a few times when I was out in the desert here. I just kept backing up to try and dislodge the little bastard the other way. Thought I had broken something too.

Always dirty, never scurred......
I've had this happen 3 or 4 times now. I just stop, back up a few feet and it falls out. I've had some strange looks from people when it does happen, haha.
