Anyone know anything about the steering valve assemby?

So while doing an oil change on my car on Friday, I noticed that I was leaking some fluid from somewhere. Long story short, I traced it down and did some research this morning and after looking at some parts diagrams my leak is coming from the "Steering gear and linkage valve assembly".

Part # 15 on this diagram:

I'm dropping it off at the dealership tonight and letting them and my warranty handle it. inb4yourmudflapscausedthefailure

My question is, does anyone know what on Earth would cause this to fail and leak? I'm assuming I just got the luck of a faulty part. I tried doing some googling and I can't find any info at all about it.

I think I'm going to double check mine as well because I noticed a bit of something when I was doing my recent oil change. At the time I didnt think anything about it.
