Red face 2003 wrx NEED HELP?

i just purchased a 2003 wrx and its been driving fine untell tonight when i was heading home from my buddies house, i was getting on the on ramp and when i hit boost my turbo lagged and hesitated quite abit and proceeded to hesitate when i hit boost. Also from the sound of it seems like i hear a leak somewhere (pressurized air) ( i didnt hear this before it started hesitating). Any ideas on what is going on? thanks.

Sounds like a massive boost leak, or possible preturbo exhaust leak.. but my money is on boost leak. Check/tighten the connections. You may even want to put a boost leak tester on it so you can hear exactly where it is coming from.
