Unable to open bonnet/hood

I went to open the bonnet this morning and I think the cable has broken from the remote lever to the bonnet release catch. How can I open the bonnet to replace the offending item.

If the cable broke near the lever inside the car, a pair of needle-nose pliers could work. If not you'll have to release it by going underneath the car and release it at the latch with a long screwdriver.
