CEL and Christmas lights

ok, well this was my first experience gettin CEL, traction off and cruse control blinkin, but i heard those are just safety precautions. The code P0856 Neutral Safety Switch High input, what would cause this to happen? is this something i did? also I have a 2012 wrx stock, nothing aftermarket not even a system. I did get it checked out and they just reset the code and said if it happens again they are gonna need to have my car for the day.....

Cause be as simple as a bad connection or switch. Who knows without further testing.
