"Gravel" noise from engine bay area at 6k RPMS

So I decided to floor it yesterday in 1st gear at around 10mph and just take off down a back road. I get to about 6k and and right before I shifted to 2nd I heard what sounded as best I can describe as "dirt or rocks" being kicked up or moving around ,but the noise sounded like it was coming from the engine. I panicked and slowed down immediately. Any ideas? Something inside my engine failing?

If you're going down a back road it might literally be dirt and rocks being flung up.

If you can replicate it on a smooth clean road, then I'd worry.

Could be actual detonation/knock. What octane fuel are you using and what are your mods?
