The bypass pressure is unlikely to be correct. Of all filters I can recall only Subaru and STP have the spec'ed bypass pressure I think.
This is a discussion on has any one tried a honda filter on a subaru ? within the General Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Accidents. forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; I work for Honda and the Subaru and Honda oil filter look similar except for length wise the Honda is ...
I work for Honda and the Subaru and Honda oil filter look similar except for length wise the Honda is alil longer and I decided to put it on and it went on perfect just wondering if I should use them , I got a 11 wrx by the way.

So with the incorrect bypass how would the vehicle be affected?
oil filter? OEM or bust

Oops I thought I put oil filter sorry. Well yea I'm talking about oil filter.
Bypass pressure would dictate the % of oil entering the filter vs. the % that is, well, bypassed.
Usually people are either appalled or entirely indifferent.
To see whether the vehicle will be affected, look at wear data and insolubles assayed in used oil analyses from engines with the correct filter and compare to all others. Bob is the Oil Guy is where to look online.
I've used OEM and other filters on my engine.

I just cracked open the OEM oil filter from my WRX (The blue Honeywell can) after my oil change last weekend. The filter media looks great and intact after 7,500 miles of service.
IMO there's no need to experiment with aftermarket filters. Subaru's require high bypass spring tension that is built into the OEM filter. I wouldn't risk running my engine oil filtration in bypass which can happen if the filter used is not built to spec.
